CLINICAL ACTIVITIES:
2008 - Present. Toronto District School Board, Toronto, Ontario. Psychologist. Half time position providing assessment of grade school students and consultation to staff and parents.
2007 – Present. Creative Psychological Services, Toronto, Ontario. Half time private practice focused on assessment, treatment, and consultation regarding adults, couples, as well as children, adolescents, and their families. Depression, anxiety, relationship and learning problems are areas of focus
2002 – 2007. Rouge Valley Health Care System, Shoniker Clinic, Toronto, Ontario. Part time position included directing Developmental Assessment Clinic; assessment and treatment of outpatient children, adolescents, and families; consultation to day hospital and inpatient adolescent unit.
1993 – 2002. Private practice, Nashville, Tennessee. Included assessment, treatment and consultation regarding children, adolescents, adults, and families. Individual, couple, and group formats were utilized.
1994 – 1996. Mental Health Association in Nashville, Tennessee. Program Director. Developed, wrote funding grants for, and implemented community-based initiatives such as depression screening and mental health-related stigma reduction programs.
1990 – 1993. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Psychology Service, Lexington, Kentucky. Provided assessment, treatment, and consultation in medical-surgical units, the Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Psychology Pain Clinic, and Chronic Psychiatric Unit. Also, as HIV Team leader, provided pre- and post – HIV test counseling with follow-up as needed.
1987 – 1990. Calgary General Hospital, Psychology Department, Calgary, Alberta. Direct Departmental Referrals. Assessed and treated outpatients and their families with an emphasis on pediatric referrals that typically involved family dysfunction or crisis management. Also, as Consultation and Liaison Service Team member, consulted with inpatient staff and provided clinical services to their patients.
1981 – 1987. Alberta Children’s Hospital, Psychology Department, Calgary, Alberta. Burn Team; assessed and treated burned children and their families regarding prevention, crisis management, treatment compliance, pain, grief and disfigurement issues. Inpatient Service; consulted with physicians, nurses, and other staff, assessed and treated children and families regarding the psychological aspects of medically hospitalized patients. Mental Health Program; provided outpatient assessment of families as part of a team of nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. On-Call Service; provided crisis service to the emergency room staff and patients, other hospital areas, and community. Pain and Stress Management Service; individual and group treatment provided for children with headache, recurrent abdominal pain, stereotyped movement, anticipatory nausea, anxiety, and other disturbances such as those related to debridement and bone marrow aspiration.
1980 – 1981. Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Los Angeles, California. APA approved predoctoral clinical psychology internship.
